Not just a photographer

a visual storyteller for loved-up souls

Hi everyone. I’m Courtney, and I'm the face and name behind Courtney Laura Photography. I’m a wedding photographer based in the Yarra Valley who documents love stories all over Melbourne, Australia and the world.

I’m a wife and mother to three gorgeous and crazy children, Jordan, Taylor, and Owen. Needless to say, my hands are full! When I’m not holding a camera in my hands, I’ll be busy racing my kids to their basketball games, camping with family or watching endless amounts of movies (old school and new ones).

Hello, It's Nice to Meet You!

When I was growing up, Dad would always take photos and print them. He stored them in his photo albums, ranging from 1976 through to present day. To this day, my siblings and I will often go through these albums, and now my children love to as well.

Each album is like a documentation of our family’s history together. Recently, three of my grandparents passed away and that night, we all went through the albums to remember the good times we all shared together. The best keepsake I could ever wish to have.

My husband bought me my very first DSLR camera when we first got married over 13 years ago. After taking simple photos of my kids and the environment around me, my passion grew and I signed up for a workshop with Tim Coulson called The Nursery, which taught me the basics of shooting in manual.

After photographing my siblings families and improving on my skills, my cousin asked me to photograph her wedding in 2017 and my anxiety instantly said NO! But she wouldn't take no for an answer, I photographed her wedding and I immediately knew I wanted to do this forever.

Because of my Dad's love for photos, this catapulted my desire to capture memories for others.

Here’s where you can go on a deeper dive into what started your photography journey and why you love it so much – talk about your motivations and purpose, why every shoot is a new experience.

You can also write about your overall style and personality, what makes you different from all the other photographers they’ve researched. Don’t be shy!

Talk about how your photos will help them relive the day for years and generations to come.

“Every wedding, every shoot, I see the world through a whole new lens. Your story will be different from the last, and this ignites my passion all over again.”

My family shows love by picking on each other. We may seen harsh, but it really is love.

* I’m one of five kids which include 2 sets of twins.

* My twin sister and I are complete opposites but she's my best friend.

* I beloved Melbourne Demons Supporter.

* Renovating our first home and love to document the ups and downs

* I love all things Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and most other celebrations.

* I love music of the 80s, 90s, 00s as well as modern Country.

* I love to go to concerts with my sister or my Dad and best concert I have been to was Bruce Springsteen.

Here’s where you can delve further into your favourite things outside of wedding photography – everyone might be able to be a photographer, but there’s little quirks that make you unique – chat about that.

Maybe you can talk about your favourite hobbies, food, art or leisure activities. What you do to wind down when you’re not shooting – pets, your family, your hometown.

You can also use this opportunity to rehash your love for travelling – a great way for you to subtly remind them that you’re open to shooting destination weddings.

Remember to wrap up this section by tying it back into wedding photography. For example, “That’s a little sneak peek into my life and a few of my favourite things. No matter who and where we are, we’re all souls wandering this beautiful earth, with a different story to share. No tale is one and the same. And that’s why I LOVE documenting love stories (and hopefully yours too!)”

I love to help calm the nerves in the morning as you get ready, cry with you during the ceremony when you first see each other and to laugh with you at the hilarious and inappropriate speeches.

Weddings are about bringing together your family and friends, to rekindle those relationships, make memories and to have one incredible night together.

My approach to weddings is to document those moments of the day that tell YOUR STORY. The intimate moments when you are along, the tears welling up in your parents and grandparents eyes, the cheekiness of the children that are going crazy for sitting still for too long.

My hope is that you see my style of photography as romantic, timeless, fun and effortless. I will be the fly on the wall that captures moments authentically, as it unfolds but with help along the way if you are feeling nervous or awkward in front the camera.

The only downside is, the photos are all so amazing, we cannot pick a favourite photo!
